5 minutes of sustainability

Want to know what actions you can take to address the climate and nature emergency? Have a whole school conversation once a month for 5 minutes! Each of these videos outline one action we can take, an explanation of how that action helps to address the climate and biodiversity crisis, and the impact of taking that action.

Get your whole school on board. In order to change mindsets we need to have collective conversations. Individual actions may seem insignificant but they matter. If we take action and consciously live a lower-carbon lifestyle, we can help to create new social norms and behaviours.

Beneath each video there is a link where teachers and students can note the action that they have taken. Encourage your teachers and students to complete this. It takes less than a minute! Also leave a comment underneath the video on YouTube. We want your feedback.

1.INTRODUCTION

We’ve been asked by students and teachers “What can we do about climate change and biodiversity loss?”. In response we created ‘5 Minutes of Sustainability’ which is all about the actions we can take. Each video outlines an action we can take, an explanation of how that action helps, and the impact of taking that action.

Videos are released once a month. You can show these to a whole school at the same time to emphasise the power of collective conversations and action. Mobilising mindsets and changing a culture takes grit and hard work. In this video the students outline the systems they have set up in their schools to make it easier for people to take action.
